Location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, notifications and storage are common categories. The relevance depends on the app’s purpose and features.
Ask why access is needed
A mapping app may reasonably request location access. A simple calculator asking for contacts would be less obviously connected to its core function, so you may want to investigate before granting access.
Review settings later
Permissions are not always a one-time decision. Mobile operating systems generally provide controls to review or change permissions after installation.
Remember third-party services
Apps may use analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting providers. Their privacy disclosures can explain how information is processed beyond the app itself.
Use official stores
Downloading through the device’s official app marketplace can provide additional publisher and safety information. Avoid installing files from unknown sources simply because they promise a free premium version.
